The Balbina Lake

Is located aproximately 200 km. North of Manaus - with access through the BR 174, which is totally paved asfalted road.

Balbina Village

Is a small village with around 2000 inhabitants that consists a small airstrip for the landing of small aircrafts, which is 10 km from the Balbina lake and 44 km from the port of embarkment for fishing in the Uatum? river.

Accommodations - Hotel

Located in downtown, with two Hotels of 20 apartments reception, and capacity for 60 guest. The rooms are all self contained with toilet, hot shower, fan, and frigobar, TV, facilities only at the reception.

Boats

All of them, made of aluminium 6,7 and 8.5 m, and equiped with comfortable seats specially for this activity, also outboard motors of 15,25 and 30 HP, with an experienced crew.

Fishing in Balbina Lake

With obsolute predominance of peacok bass, from 700g. 4 kgs, also piranhas, including the black specie weighting from 700 grams to 3.0 kg, monkey fish (aruana), car? disk, (car?) and small bluegill-like fish (pac?s).

Fishing on Uatum? River

Takes place mostly on summer in the Amazon (September to December), it could change depending on the height of the Amazonas river, from which the Uatum? river flows. The principal fishes for sport fishing are the: peacok bass (tucunar? 700g. to 8.0 kg.), big sardines (apap?s), cara disk (car?-a??), shad-like fish matrinch?s), dorado (pescadas), monkey fish (aruan?s), piaus, several types of piranhas also many types of cat fish such as pirarara, pira?ba, cacharajundi?, strikingly patterned cat fish (surubim) and many others small species.

Type of fishing

Could be done in Balbina lake or in the Uatum? river, returning on the same day of departure (between 06:00 h. and 18:00 h.), or overnight in rustic huts made of wood, covered with canvas, simple table and stools, facilities and sleeping in hammocks. From 02 to 04 days, to a maximum of 05 boats (10 people).

Included on Fishing Trips

Transport; Manaus/Balbina/Manaus with air conditioned vans. On fishing trips returning the same day is included: ice box to keep fish and drinks; cleaning and storage of fish and food by the captain.

Important Notes

Fuel (gasoline) and drinks will be charged separatedly. On fishing trips for camping, an extra fee per group will be added (depending on the number of persons). Which includes; hammocks for sleeping, cover sheets, towells, cleaning material, camping equipment (dishes, cuttlery, torches, small stove, etc.), a cook, first aid kit and a van (kombi) will be avaliable all the time for transportation to and from the port.

Fishing License

Compulsory, updated, exclusively from IBAMA (the brazilian institute of environment), which is valid in the whole country, authorizing up to 30 kg. plus a sample of any size or type of fish.

Fishing Equipment

Under customers responsability, not being allowed to use fishing nets. Balbina lake is not proper for troller fishing, which is only for cast style fishing, with artificial lourds such as, small, medium top, middle and deep water. In Uatum? river is possible to do troller fishing and the lourds with sizes between 9-18 cm. In both places the tripple hooks must be resistable. It is common for cast style fishing in the offered options.

For Reservations and payments

Reservations should be booked with minimum 30 days in advance and payment should be done by bank arrangement with minimum20 days in advance of customer's arrival date in Manaus; Informations about the procedures to be taken, will be given during booking of reservations.
